Letter to All Blessed
Central Families on the Meaning of Foundation Day - 2013.2.12

Community worldwide:
Section 1:
Introduction – Approaching Foundation Day
I am writing this
letter with great seriousness and the utmost urgency as we approach Foundation
Day.
We have passed from
the Age before the Coming of Heaven into the Age after the Coming of Heaven,
when God’s original ideal can and should finally be realized.
Foundation Day was
meant to mark a new era in God’s providence and human history in which God’s
dream as outlined in the Principle of Creation is finally substantiated on
earth. God had eagerly prepared for this day throughout human history. It
was to be the providential turning point, when God’s expectations of the first
human ancestors Adam and Eve are victoriously realized and a substantial True
Family created. Centered upon this victorious foundation of an ideal family, God’s
true love, true life, true lineage were to flourish, expanding from the family,
to the clan, nation, and to the world. God’s sovereignty of true
love was to extend to all humanity, making the dream of One Family under God a
living reality.
Knowing this
expectation, Father dedicated himself with an unwavering heart of filial piety
to fulfill this Providential Will and thereby to liberate God’s heart. He
sought to offer God the substantial settlement of True Parents and True Family
on earth as the victorious foundation for eternal peace, as expressed in the
title of the first Peace Message “God’s Ideal Family and the Kingdom of the
Peaceful Ideal World.” At the same time, through the Blessed Central
Families and Ambassadors for Peace, Father worked to unite the worldwide Cain
and Abel realms in order to secure the opening of the Kingdom of the Peaceful
Ideal World where God’s substantial sovereignty is established, in other words
Cheon Il Guk.
Father was working
tirelessly toward that goal, to offer a victorious Foundation Day to Heavenly
Father and all humanity. Tragically, however, Father ascended to the spirit
world without being able to complete this offering. This was certainly not what
Father desired or anticipated. Moreover, in light of this context of Heaven’s
expectations and providential Will, the entire Unification Movement is
totally unprepared and unqualified to celebrate this historic and holy day of
Foundation before God and all humanity.
Instead of being an
instrument of God with absolute alignment to His Will, the Unification Movement
is now in a state of conflict, confusion and disarray. In recent years,
absurd theologies have emerged which are counter to the Principle, deifying
True Parents and announcing True Mother as the wife of God. The current
leadership is denigrating the significance of this day by turning it into a
mere symbolic ceremony and a day of receiving a “special grace” through another
forgiveness blessing. As these disturbing developments unfold in the movement,
many Blessed Families have forfeited their five percent portion of
responsibility before Heaven and ignored the voice of their conscience by
blindly following the misguided teachings of this current leadership.
As a son seeking to
console his Father’s heart by honoring his life and legacy, I am determined to
realize his life-long dream, rooted in the unchanging, absolute, eternal and
unique purpose of God’s providence of restoration and recreation. As his flesh
and blood, I want him to live through me so that he can offer that victorious
Day to Heavenly Father. As your elder brother, I feel responsible to clarify
the true meaning of Foundation Day for our Blessed Central Families and to
awaken you to the serious responsibility of fulfilling God’s expectations at
this critical juncture in history.
Section 2: God’s
Original Purpose of Creation and the True Meaning of Foundation Day
As I have indicated
above, there is a great deal of confusion among our Blessed Families about the meaning
of Foundation Day. To begin to understand the true meaning of this day, we must
first be completely clear about God’s original ideal and His purpose of
creation.
1) God’s Original
Purpose of Creation: Establishing One Family Under God
Centered on the Ideal Family
God’s original purpose
of creation was to create an ideal family centered on God that could expand His
love, life and lineage upon the earth.
In an ideal family,
God is at the center, and every person within that family is to build a parent-child
relationship with Heavenly Father and attend God as their parent. Each
person in that family should resemble God as His son or daughter and become an
owner of True Love, manifested through living for the sake of others.
Within this type of true family, the parent-child relationship, the
husband-wife relationship, and the relationship among siblings will be formed
based on the natural order of true love. By perfecting the four realms of heart
and three kingships, the ideal family is manifested substantially.
In the first family,
Adam and Eve had a five percent portion of responsibility to perfect their
characters and completely align with God’s Will. Upon perfection, God
intended to bless them to become husband and wife and form an ideal four position
foundation. Adam and Eve failed to form such a family and instead created
a four position foundation centered on Satan’s false love, false life and false
lineage. Though God tried to reverse the process of the Fall in the second generation of Adam’s family, that
became impossible when Cain killed Abel, thus setting the stage for humanity’s
long and enduring history of struggle, conflict, and war, far from the original
ideal of God.
True Father, as the
third Adam, came to substantiate the original purpose of Creation as a
victorious son of God, absolutely aligned to His Will. His mission was defined
by the Principle of Creation and fought on a cosmic scale where the historic
progression and expansion of false love, life, and lineage needed to be severed
and a new history of true love, life, and lineage conceived, centered
upon the substantial manifestation of God’s ideal family. However, just
because the form of such a family exists today, it does not mean that it is
automatically perfected or aligned to the Will of God. What it means is that
this family has no connection to the Fall nor does it
carry the burden of Original Sin. Nevertheless, it still needs to fulfill the
purpose of Creation where each member of the family needs to fulfill his or her
own five percent portion of responsibility before Heaven and Earth as
co-creators of God’s providence of recreation.
The same is true with
the Blessing, through which couples are engrafted into God’s lineage, becoming
part of the extended True Family. Each member of a Blessed Central Family has
their own portion of responsibility to fulfill, namely living a life of true
love that manifests God’s original true family ideal. As the members of such a
family fulfill their portions of responsibility through living for the sake of
others, their lives and actions will express the love of God, and they will
come to resemble God. As this family expands to the clan, nation, and worldwide
levels, the substantial realm of God’s sovereignty, centered upon true love,
will be made manifest.
2) Father’s Promise to
Heavenly Father and the True Meaning of Foundation Day
Father understood
clearly the ultimate ideal and purpose of God’s Will and also knew his mission
as a filial son to Heavenly Father.
As stated earlier,
Father had originally intended to mark Foundation Day by offering to Heaven the
substantial settlement of True Parents and True Family on earth as the
foundation for eternal peace. He intended to also offer a substantial
victory on the national and worldwide levels, in order to secure the opening of
the Kingdom of the Peaceful Ideal World where God’s substantial sovereignty is
established, in other words Cheon Il Guk.
Father had a clear
roadmap toward Foundation Day and had been strategically moving toward that end
with a clear timetable. On January 13, 2001 he offered the Coronation of God’s
Kingship, and proclaimed the opening of Cheon Il
Guk.
He expanded the focus
of the Unification Movement, replacing HSA-UWC with the Family Federation for World
Peace and Unification. Through the Family Federation, he worked to substantiate
the true family ideal through the Blessing, and he encouraged all Blessed
Central Families to take responsibility for their tribes, nations, and the
world.
He inaugurated the
Universal Peace Federation in 2005, travelling to120 nations of the world, and
had three generations of his family participate in opening this new era in
2006. Upon this foundation, he called upon Blessed Central Families and
Ambassadors for Peace to take ownership over UPF to fulfill its role as an Abel
type UN, and then expand its foundation to eventually establish the Parent UN
(through the unity of the Cain and Abel UN).
Later he declared that
Foundation Day would be on January 13, 2013, when he would offer to Heavenly
Father the substantial kingdom of the peaceful ideal world, standing on the
building blocks of God’s ideal families through the unity of Cain and Abel
camps on the family, clan, national, and worldwide levels.
In light of this
understanding, it is clear that Foundation Day is NOT about making a spiritual
condition that brings some special grace from God and True Parents that
magically transforms the world while you look on in awe, nor is it a ceremony
for repentance and forgiveness of your sins. Foundation Day should represent
the starting-point for the substantial unfolding of God’s kingdom upon the
earth.
Therefore, for church
leaders to misunderstand and distort this true meaning of Foundation Day and
to, instead, create an event to further entrench their self-serving purposes is
blasphemous to God and a crime before Heaven and all Creation.
3) Current Situation
of the Unification Movement
Not only has the true
meaning of Foundation Day been distorted, but, if we examine the current state
of the Unification movement, we see that it has deviated from God’s providence
and built a culture far from the true family ideal.
Our movement was once
a movement of truth, righteousness, principle, and true love. Most of all we
were a movement with a passionate commitment to advancing God’s Providence. In
1984 when Father was incarcerated in Danbury prison, he told us, “Do not resent
America, but love her even more.” Because we followed that standard, God could
bless the True Family and the Unification movement.
Throughout our
history, as the movement faced persecution and difficulties, God continued to
bless our work because we were aligned to His Will and to the standard of
Heaven. Today, however, instead of God’s providence being the focus of the
Unification Movement, the self-serving agenda of corrupt leaders has taken
center stage. The movement’s internal dispute has been thrown into the courts,
wasting astronomical amounts of money. Malicious lies that amount to character
assassination are being spread by the church leadership, and even thrust into
public view through ill-advised media campaigns.
Blessed Central
Families have even stooped to attacking one another. Leaders misuse the love
and trust members have toward True Parents to gain a false authority that
demands blind obedience from Blessed Families. Instead of awakening the
conscience and sense of ownership among blessed families, the core leaders have
sought to keep them ignorant. This is a grave violation of trust and, most of
all, a crime against the Will of God.
Today, the church has
distorted elements of the Principle, reducing it to merely the doctrine of the
Unification Church. Furthermore, True Father who has come to fulfill God’s Will
as His true son, has been deified and presented as the
founder of a new religion. Ironically Father himself stressed that Jesus,
deified through past centuries, was in actuality God’s true son, and a true
perfected human being. Father strove to transcend the walls between
religions, not build a new one.
We have strayed far
from the course of creating the victorious foundation that True Father intended
to offer Heaven on Foundation Day. Resolving the situation of the
movement and getting back on course in alignment with God’s providence is the
joint responsibility of True Mother, True Family, and all Blessed Central
Families alike. There is no one who is blameless for our present
predicament, and we must work hard to understand and fulfill our portion of
responsibility at this pivotal time.
4) Blessed Central
Family Responsibility in the Present Age: Four Fundamental Questions
At this critical
juncture in providential history, each of you as Blessed Central Families must
understand clearly that you are providential people, owners of God’s
providence, and the ones who will decide whether this movement advances God’s
providence or remains an obstacle to it.
To gain the proper
perspective on our providential responsibilities in this time, we need to
understand the answers to four fundamental questions regarding the providence.
Those questions are:
• Who is the center of
the Providence?
• What is the
messianic mission?
• What does the advent
of True Parents and True Family signify?
• What is the
responsibility of Blessed Central Families in this time?
The answer to the
first question is simple and clear: God is the center of providence. He
is very much alive and His hand has clearly been guiding human history along
the path of substantial restoration and recreation. It is for God and His
providence that True Father laid down his life, not for himself or for his own
will. Just as Father has done, we too, must absolutely align ourselves
with God’s Will and always be humble and grateful for the opportunity to
participate in and make an offering to His Providence.
The second question
is: What is the messianic mission? The messiah stands in the position of
restored Adam, and therefore as the true son of God. Father has said that God
seeks a parent-child relationship with humanity. Hence, the messiah is God’s
son. As a filial son, the messiah owns and accomplishes God’s dream as
outlined in the Principle of Creation.
True Father’s ultimate
mission is to give substance to God’s dream of forming an ancestral family that
reflects God’s original ideal, as the root and starting point of true love,
true life, and true lineage; and then, through that family, to connect all
people of the world, across the barriers of race, religion, and nationality, as
one family under God.
He opened the path for
all fallen humanity to share in that ideal through the change of blood lineage,
which is not merely symbolic or otherworldly. It is salvation that opens
the way to perfection achieved by fulfilling the five percent human portion of
responsibility, as one advances through the individual, family and tribal
stages during one’s life. Father opened the path for all humanity to become
true children of God. This is the proper understanding of True Father’s
legacy.
The third question is:
what does the advent of the True Parents and True Family signify? It means
that, for the first time in human history, God’s original ideal can become a
substantial reality on Earth as well as in Heaven. In other words, it should
mark the emergence of a new dawn in human history where God’s original purpose
of Creation is realized and where the proper precedent for a new era centered
upon true love, life and lineage is manifested. That is why True Father
proclaimed the beginning of the Age after the Coming of Heaven, marking the end
of humanity’s history of ceaseless conflict and war and the beginning of a new
era of peace centered upon God’s Ideal Family.
As Father so
poignantly reveals through his Peace Messages, God’s Ideal Family is the
cornerstone for building a world of peace that extends from the individual
level, through the family, tribal, national and worldwide levels. What is most
important is that God is at its center and core on each level of development
and true love is its fullest expression. What is God’s original ideal? To form
a family that becomes the owner of true love, securing a parent-child
relationship with God, and establishing the root and starting point of true
love, true life, and true lineage. God wants to engraft into that family all
the people of the fallen world, across the barriers of race, religion, and
nationality, to live as one extended family under God.
The fourth question
is: What is the responsibility of Blessed Central Families? Through the
Blessing of first generation, Blessed Central Families are engrafted into God’s
original true lineage and become members of the extended True Family, sons and
daughters of God. This is not the end of the matter, a ticket to heaven,
but a new beginning. It is your commission to fulfill your own portion of
responsibility by making God’s original ideal of true family a reality in your
own family through the daily practice of true love, which should substantiate
true life and protect true lineage. God expects you to take up mutual
ownership of His ideal and, together with the True Family, the shared
responsibility to fulfill it.
God wants to relate to
you, as His filial sons and daughters, not simply as faithful and obedient
servants waiting for their next instructions. He wants children to know and
share His heart as well as the principles and values of creation by making His
ideal their own. A household of servants will crumble once the owner passes
away, but a family built upon a parent-child relationship of true love can
endure eternally as the spirit of the parents passes from one generation to the
next. In other words, the children and grandchildren will carry on the legacy
of ownership and love inherited from their grandparents and parents, even after
they have passed to the spirit world.
I want all Blessed
Families to understand that such is your inheritance as members of the extended
True Family. Blessed Central Families should lead the world by example toward a
culture of heart that will realize the ideals of Cheon Il
Guk. The power to do this will not be based on position or hierarchy or
command, but upon the moral authority inherent in living a life of true love.
Moral authority flows
from God when one is aligned with His Providence and a true owner of true love.
This is the authority that leaders of the movement should display as the result
of living principled lives. It is the authority that you as Blessed Central
Families should carry into your neighborhoods and communities and your nations,
as you embody God’s Principle in your motivation, your words, and your deeds.
It is the authority which will qualify you as a true citizen of Cheon Il Guk and give you the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Without it you are but an empty shell devoid of the life energy and truth that
flows from God.
I know that there are
conscientious and righteous members who are standing up to protect God’s
providence and True Parents’ legacy. At this critical providential moment, all
Blessed Central Families must listen to the voice of their conscience, recall
the ideals that led them to follow True Parents, and take ownership of God’s
providential Will.
Section 3: Conclusion
– the Providential Path Ahead
I want to conclude
this letter by writing about the path that lies ahead of us.
Father lived as the
filial son to Heavenly Father, wanting to liberate God’s heart and realize His ideal
on this earth. As his son, I have dedicated my life to pursuing God’s ideal
with the same heart as my Father.
Even though Father is
no longer with us here on the earth, his indomitable spirit is alive and
his dreams and hopes live through me and all those who sincerely wish to
fulfill my Father’s true legacy. I have made a promise to God and my Father to
realize the dream that has motivated and animated his life. The work that I
continue in tribute to my father’s legacy will carry God’s providence forward
and, most of all, set the proper precedent for building God’s substantial
kingdom on earth, centered upon His aspirations, principles and values. More
quickly than you might imagine, it will overshadow the shameful path of the
current church and all its institutions. I urge you also to become
eternal sons and daughters in whom Father’s spirit and dream are vibrant and
alive instead of a forgotten footnote in a disgraceful past.
Before a meaningful
Foundation Day can be offered, the Unification Movement needs a “true” new
beginning that will resurrect the ideal of true family and repair the damage
done to God’s providence. Most importantly, the perpetrators of all the
misdeeds over the past four years need to take full responsibility for their
actions and repent before God, True Parents, my family and all those they
derided as the “Kwak group” as well as all Blessed
Central Families and Ambassadors for Peace around the world. Then, they should
all step down from their positions of authority and never covet money, power
and position again, for they should realize how unfit they were in the eyes of
God and providential history.
Only then can a new
leadership paradigm and culture begin centered upon leaders and members who are
100 percent aligned with God’s providence and who, with humility and gratitude,
embody the qualities of a true Abel. Only then can the baggage of our past be
shed and a true, new beginning emerge that carries the promise of all God’s
blessings in this Age after the Coming of Heaven. Only then can our movement
truly settle in the eternal hometown of God’s heart and build “God’s Ideal
Family and the Kingdom of the Peaceful Ideal World.” If we do not create a new
culture aligned to the purpose of Creation, and this conflict continues after
Foundation Day, the Unification Movement will not develop even one step forward
and will have to pay incredible indemnity for countless generations to come.
You, who blindly choose to follow the current corrupt UC leadership for
whatever reason, will become the forgotten people in the dustbins of history
whose lives tell another tragic tale of human failure before God’s providence.
This is truly the Last
Days, when all of us face the paradox expressed in Jesus’ words that whoever
seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever is willing to give up his
life will find it. At this time of judgment, there is no hiding place.
Each of you must decide where you stand, and be responsible for your
decision before God and all humanity. Either you fulfill your portion of
responsibility before Heaven and Earth, or you don’t. It is your decision, and
ultimately, your responsibility. This will stand as the measure of your
standard as a Blessed Central Family.
May God bless and
guide each of you and your families, bringing clarity, renewed commitment, and
peace to your hearts.
