My, my, your totalitarian tendencies are coming out pretty strongly. You
cannot shut me up just by threats. Sorry. If there is one topic that the
subscribers to alt.atheism talk about endlessly, it is God, so why can't I
talk about Him?

Because God made mankind in His image, male and female. (Gen 1:27).
His ideal is to be fulfilled by a couple resembling Him.

Zech 4:14 talks about the TWO ANOINTED ONES. The anointed one is the
Christ.
Rev. 11:1-13 talks about the two witnesses, representing the two true
olive trees.
Rev 19:1-10 talks about the marriage of the Lamb.

1 Peter 1:5 says that there is a higher level of salvation to come:
"Through your faith, God's power will guard you until the
salvation which has been prepared is revealed at the end of
time."
Paul says in Romans 8:23-27:
" ... not only the creation, but we too groan inwardly as we
wait for our bodies to be set free. For we must be content to
hope that we shall be saved -- our salvation is not in sight,
we should not have to be hoping for it if it were, but as I say,
we must hope to be saved since we are not saved yet, it is
something we must wait for with patience."
> Moon is that messiah and "lord of the Second Advent"???
Sorry, the Bible cannot answer that question, as it is only to prepare
us for the coming of that day. Once the day comes, then we must recognize
the Christ who has come so that he can lead us into all truth. But the
Bible does tell you in many ways, to "Pray constantly" (1 Th 5:17),
"Stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming"
(Matt 24:42), the parable of the Ten Bridesmaids (Matt 25:1-13), and so on.

First and foremost, to be saved you must repent of your sin, and believe
in and *obey* Jesus Christ. But to come into the fullness of salvation,
where you no longer need a savior, where your body can be freed from
sin and where your children can be born without original sin, you need
the Blessing of True Parents.

We will be saved by our faith and judged by our works. Refer to Matt
25:31-46. As James said, "Faith is like that; if good works do not go
with it, it is quite dead." (James 2:17) and again: "You see now that
it is by doing something good, and not only believing, that a man is
justified." (James 2:24).

Now the talk of mind-control, brainwashing and the like is the talk of
heathens, not of believers. We believers know that everyone must have
their sins washed away and live by faith, doing good to others, living
in obedience to the Lord. Otherwise, it is all a sham.

The only true gospel is the gospel of love. Jesus summed it up very
succinctly, when asked which are the greatest of the commandments:
This one is the first: "Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the
one Lord, and you must love the Lord your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind and with all
your strength." The second is this: "You must love your neighbor
as yourself." (Mark 12:29-31).

We do our utmost to follow the Gospel of Love that Jesus taught, even
to the point of loving our enemies (Matt 6:44).

I believe in the Living God who answers prayer, and loves all of His
children, especially those who suffer in sin, and even those who dwell
in Hell. He is like the Father of the prodigal son and will do whatever
it takes to restore all humanity to His grace. (2 Pet 3:9).

While SOME Christians do say that, the God that Jesus taught about was
like the father of the Prodigal Son, who while he let his son go away
and waste his fortune, he was waiting for him and ran out to greet him
from a long way off when he saw the son coming home. (Luke 15:11-32).
St. Peter said:
"The Lord is not being slow to carry out his promsies, as anybody
else might be called slow; but he is being patient with you all,
wanting nobody to be lost, and everybody to be brought to change
his ways." (2 Peter 3:9)
The prophet Ezekiel said:
"As I live -- it is the Lord Yahweh who speaks -- I take pleasure,
not in the eath of a wicked man, but in the turning back of a
wicked man who changes his ways to win life. Come back, come
back from your evil ways. Why are you so anxious to die, House
of Israel?" (Ezek 33:11).

While it is not at all compelling evidence to the intellect, it is most
compelling to the heart.

You misunderstand the teachings of Jesus.

I agree with you, but Christianity does not teach eternal punishment.
People suffer in the state of Hell until they can be liberated from it.
However, Hell is a choice people make, just like the Prodigal Son chose
his fate, and was delivered of it when he changed his mind. If Hell
were eternal, then God would be a failure. For more ideas on this topic,

No, YOUR CONCEPT of the Christian God is false. I don't believe in that
unethical God either. The true God is a God who loves even those who
hate Him.

I agree that Jesus is a man and not a God. Christianity has lost most of
its power since it failed to practice the core teachings of Jesus, such
as to love God with all one's heart and soul, to love one's neighbor,
to love one's enemy, and so on.

Languages diverged in the past because of isolation and conflict between
peoples. In these days of mass communication, worldwide travel, and the
coming days of world peace, I believe that there will be one language
by which all of the world will communicate, even if other languages
persist.

Bush praises Moon as 'Man of Vision'
RT 11/25/96
BUENOS AIRES (Reuter) - The South Korean evangelist Sun Myung Moon
launched a new Spanish-language newspaper for the whole of Latin
America this weekend, with the backing of guest George Bush who
praised Moon's respect for editorial independence.
The former U.S. president, guest speaker at a banquet late
Saturday to launch Moon's new publication "Tiempos del Mundo" (Times
of the World), was full of praise for the controversial evangelist's
best-known newspaper, the Washington Times, and referred to Moon as
"the man with the vision."
Bush then travelled with Moon to neighboring Uruguay Sunday to
help him inaugurate a seminary in the capital Montevideo to train
4,200 young Japanese women to spread the word of his Church of
Unification across Latin America.
Moon already owns a major newspaper, bank and hotel in Uruguay
and is buying up land in the Argentine province of Corrientes, where
he plans to construct what his followers call "ideal cities".
"I want to salute Reverend Moon who is the founder of the
Washington Times and of the new paper here," said Bush, who was
reported by the Washington Post to have been paid $100,000 for his
Buenos Aires appearance.
"A lot of my friends in South America don't know about the
Washington Times but it is an independent voice," said Bush. "The
editors of the Washington Times tell me that never once has the man
with the vision interfered with the running of the paper, a paper that
in my view brings sanity to Washington DC."
"I am convinced that Tiempos del Mundo is going to do the same
thing," said Bush, who managed to avoid being photographed with the
76-year-old South Korean evangelist during his whole stay in Buenos
Aires.
Bush was staying at Argentine President Carlos Menem's official
Olivos residence, and there was a place reserved at the top table for
Menem. But Menem, who met Moon secretly last year, snubbed him this
time on the advice of foreign policy and religious policy aides.
Argentina's influential Catholic Church takes issue with Moon's
portrayl of himself as an incarnation of God fulfilling the mission of
Christ. Critics say he brainwashes the vulnerable into joining him and
some countries, such as Germany, consider him a threat to public order
and refuse him an entry visa.
In his speech at the Tiempos del Mundo launch, Moon made a bitter
reference to the 11 months he spend in prison in the United States for
tax evasion, saying he had "overcome significant persecution" in that
country.
Before his speech titled "In Search of the Origin of the
Universe," Moon promised his new paper would "provide the most
edifying reports in every aspect...promoting harmony and reverting the
tendency towards disbelief."
The first edition showed a tendency to optimistic headlines, its
cover showing an elated President Bill Clinton over the headline "The
North Moves Closer to the South."
Its Texan editor, Larry Moffitt, told Reuters the newspaper would
come out on Sundays at first "but go daily very quickly" via satellite
transmissions to editorial centers in 10 countries, including
Argentina.
"Within a year we hope to be in every country in the hemisphere,"
Moffitt said. His circulation goals are ambitious: "There are 300
million Spanish speaking people in the hemisphere. That sounds like a
good number."
Meanwhile Moon was in full flow, asking his 700 guest such
penetrating questions as "why do sexual organs exist?" and "when you
defecate, do you wear a gas mask?"

Did you ever hear : "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone?"
What gives you the right to throw stones? This is the mission of the
Messiah:
"He has sent me to bring good news to the poor,
to bind up hearts that are broken;
to proclaim liberty to captives,
freedom to those in prison;
to proclaim a year of favor from Yahweh,
a day of vengeance for our God." (Isaiah 61:1-2)
If you are not doing the Mission of the Messiah, you are doing the other

You are making an unjustified and sweeping generalization about a whole
nation, and I take exception to it. I was born in Britain, and I am
quite aware of the nature of totalitarianism, despite your ludicrous
assertions to the contrary. And if George is in a difficult position,
do you think you help anything whatsoever by mocking the actions of his

Actually, God created all that exists. Without Him, nothing would exist.
He creates and sustains the existence of every being, the invisible and

Damian's back online - apologies for the outage
Hello all,
Last Sunday morning, while I was on my computer before going to church, I
was printing out a newspaper article from South America that someone had
sent me, and printing the color photographs. I believe that my computer
was hit with a Word document macro virus, as my C drive was totally
trashed and I lost the boot sector and everything on it.
I had not heard of such viruses before. All I knew about were the boot
sector viruses and memory viruses, and the Internet worm, but never one
like this. A PC expert assured me that such things do exist, and encouraged
me to keep an up-to-date version of McAfee anti-virus software, or
something similar to protect against such attack. This kind of virus
infection can come through attached Word documents in e-mail and Internet
posts.
So, my faithful readers have been sending me e-mail and I have been unable
to respond. I have checked in from work, but did not have the time to
respond until today as I have a new computer and will make great efforts
to see that such an outage does not happen again.
Those on my mailing lists will see a resumption of mailings from today,
and they will also see an improvement in the Unification Home Page as
I am able to use decent tools to do the job. My thanks go to all those
who have supported this Unificationist Internet ministry with their kind
words, and with their time and effort. I have not solicited financial
contributions as I do not want to be beholden to anyone and lose my
independence, but any free-will offering with no strings attached will
be gratefully appreciated to cover the costs of hardware and Internet
services.
My goal is to enlighten the world with the new expression of truth and
love that has come to us through our True Parents, Rev. and Mrs. Sun
Myung Moon.

Hello GR,
I would be dishonest if I were to say that I am happy all the time.
However, I am not unhappy all the time either. I experience rather
intensely the struggle to overcome myself and live for God and for
others. The happiest times for me are when I am victorious in this
struggle, no matter what is going on around me. In recent years I have
had experiences that have caused me immense grief, yet I always took
strength from Father's example. He came to teach me, through my prayer,
and my study of his words that God is a suffering God. He feels the
grief of every human being as His own. How then can I feel sorry for
myself, no matter what is happening in my life?
When I am in harmony with God, when I have dominion over my flesh, and
I am not sinning, when I am able to pray from the heart relating directly
with the Divine Infinite Being who sustains me, then I am filled with
awe, love and joy, and I am able to love those around me. When I wrestle
with myself, when I fall into laziness and carnality, then I feel immense
strife, shame, guilt, and inner turmoil. Then I am horrible to live
with, even for myself.
So, where the spirit of the Lord is, there is love, joy, peace, serenity,
faith, freedom and happiness in abundance. And when the spirit of the
flesh is there, then there is the spirit of anxiety, faithlessness,
fear, doubt, suspicion, and all the things that are not of God. By the
fruits of these two experiences, I know which one I prefer, even if it
is harder to follow God's way, the results far outweigh the investment,
and I do not stray in the dark realm for long. In fact, I usually stumble
in there carelessly, and when I realize that I have strayed, I am now
sufficiently aware of the spiritual realities to correct myself very
quickly. So, in summary, my formula for happiness is to live a pure
life, to love and serve God and the people around me, to read God's word
and pray every day, and then all is right with the world and I am happy,
even in the pits of hell, and personal hardship.
Sincerely,
In our True Parents' Names,

Gunnard does tend to lay it on rather thick. I choose to ignore Tilman
most of the time, but I certainly don't want Unificationists making
him into a martyr by giving him a hard time. If you want him to treat
us better, perhaps we should model the behavior that we expect. Treat
others as we would have them treat us, according to the Golden Rule. If
Father can treat Kim Il Sung with love and respect, then we can do the
same for Tilman, no matter how much we may disagree with his ideas, he
is still a child of God. This brings to mind one thing I heard Father
said to Mother when he was going through the court case. She was upset
with the prosecutor Martin Flumenbaum, and Father said to her that she
should love him, Flumenbaum, more than the baby in her womb. That
certainly gives me cause to reflect.

I agree, that Unificationists on here could make a pro-Unificationist
FAQ rather than deriding and belittling the author of the FAQ for the
loyal opposition.

Yes, I think Tilman can be given credit here where credit is due. In
fact Ed, I found a web page that is continually updated giving the
addresses of all the free Usenet News servers that they know of. I don't
have the URL handy.
I could have given Ed access to one of the many news servers that I
administer, but I am not able to give out my company's services at no
charge, no matter how much I may desire to personally.

Even if he cannot do anyone a favor, it does not do you or anyone else
any good to abuse him. This is not the example any of us want to set.
I like your attitude Ed. Gunnard, well, let's say there's room for
improvement. Tilman too. :-) I'll let others be my judge.
