Many Christian churches have members working voluntarily and tithing
10 per cent of their income. This is nothing unusual. I tithe somewhat
more than 10 per cent of my income, which is way above the median
income, and I do a great deal of pro-bono work for the church.

I met a member of the Unification Church first in Paris, France
in 1977, while I was working for IBM there. I asked her about the
group she represented and she told me of the affiliation to Rev.
Moon. *I* was the one who pressed her to tell me about it and invited
myself over to hear what they had to say. She was surprised that
I actually came. I was very clear about the association with Rev.
Moon from the beginning. I came over almost every day after work,
and I studied the Divine Principle first in French. Within three
weeks, I joined, of my own free will.

I have nobody cracking the whip over me, I live in my own home,
yet I frequently sleep 2 to 4 hours in night, though not every night.
That is because I am a busy man with many things to do, and I find
that I can get a lot of work done at night. Am I a victim of cult
sleep deprivation? Who is the cult in this case? Margaret Thatcher
of England is known to sleep 4 hours per day. People who can control
their own bodies not to sleep so much have a lot more hours in
which to be productive. It is a matter of self-discipline. It is
worth learning how to do. ;-)

Thank you for your kind words. I enjoy receiving this kind of message,

I'll let you in on a secret: I didn't write the World Scripture! It was
produced over a period of 5 years by 40 scholars from the religions of
the world. I am merely disseminating it for the Internet audience. You
can purchase the book, or find it on the Web. Here is the information:

This is nonsense. George Bush recently went on tour in Japan with

I was personally present at at least four of George Bush's speeches

work of God". I heard it with my own ears. Now you can try to prove
me wrong, but I could show you videotapes of the event. He is very
much in favor of our message to revive the ideal of the two parent

Hi Tom,
Sorry for the delay in replying.
Please understand that what I am about to say is the Unification viewpoint
and you can make of it what you will. You will notice that this is not
what most Christian churches teach. Unification Theology teaches that
belief alone does not save us. Indeed, the purpose of religion is to teach
people to discipline their bodies to overcome self-centered desires and to
live for the sake of others. Divine Principle teaches that we grow through
three orderly stages of growth, and that just before Adam and Eve entered
the perfection stage of their growth, they sinned and fell away from God,
and formed a family based on Satan's love and ideas rather than God's. As
a result, the mission of religion has been to revive, resurrect, the
spiritually dead descendents of the dead Adam and to raise people up to
the position where Adam and Eve were prior to the Fall, so that then God
can give his blessing to them and they can consummate a God-centered
marriage. No marriage up to this point has been truly sanctioned by God.
So, religion does not save us. It prepares people to receive the Messiah
who comes in the flesh, and he saves us. The salvation offered by Jesus is
only of the spirit, not of the body, since he was killed before forming a
family and passing on the Blessing to marriage. Therefore, while we are
able to live in a realm free of Satan's accusation in our minds and
spirit, our body still inherits sin from Adam, and this sin is passed on
through our blood lineage. The prophets and sages in Judaism prior to
Jesus had the mission of raising up the people to the point where they
could receive Jesus in absolute love, faith and obedience. The key one of
these in Jesus' day was John the Baptist, but he faltered in his faith in
Jesus and finally got himself killed over a side issue involving Herod's
adultery with his sister-in-law. If John had become Jesus' primary
disciple, the people of Israel would have had a much easier time of
believing in and following Jesus. Then they would have gone out into the
world, by way of the Roman empire, and evangelized the whole known world,
creating a heavenly culture based on Jesus' teachings. This would have
been the Kingdom of God on Earth. Jesus would have created a God-centered
family, and then based on that, an everlasting Godly Kingship far greater
than his ancestor David, as the book of Isaiah foretold.
Now, in our age, God has prepared foundations to receive the Messiah in
many of the world's religions. The Messiah is called by different names in
each tradition, but he is one and the same man who fulfills all of these
prophecies. Christians call him Christ, Muslims call him the returning
Imam, Buddhists call him Buddha, Jews call him Moshia or Mashiach,
Confucianists call him the True Man. This man will draw all people
together through revealing a higher expression of truth than has been
heretofore known in the history of humanity. This new expression of the
truth will bridge the apparent contradictions between religion and science
and between religious traditions. People from all religious traditions
will come to see that this man raises all religious faiths to a higher
level where they can all meet and unify.
The central elements that were lost as a result of the Fall were True
Love, True Life and True Lineage. Fallen men came to have corrupted greedy
overly carnal self-centered love, their lives became violent and angry,
bitter and hateful towards one another, and the lineage of humanity was
such that people inherited a legacy of evil rather than a legacy of
goodness.
The central solution to ALL the problems of humanity is the True Family
based on True Love. There is not one problem that I can think of that
restoration of a true standard of love and ethics in the family could not
help and eventually heal. Look at the rampant problems in our world:
family breakdown, divorce, racism, child abuse, AIDS, homosexuality and
lesbianism, crime, pornography, violence, degradation of the environment,
poverty, disease, hunger, degradation of women. Each of these problems
would be dramatically ameliorated by the establishment of a loving and
ethical family from which a loving and ethical culture could develop.
The creation of the model of the True Family and to give God's Blessing on
such true families is the primary mission of the Messiah. It represents
the restoration of God's ideal which has been lost since the dawn of human
history due to our first ancestors' fall away from God. This is the
mission of the True Parents. I believe and publicly testify to the fact
that Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his wife, Hak Ja Han Moon, represent the
position of True Parents, which is the role of Messiah and his bride, and
that they have created the model of the True Family and are giving God's
blessing on such families in ever greater numbers.
The last such Blessing was held on August 24, 1995 in Seoul, Korea, and
360,000 couples took part, about 35,000 couples locally, and the rest
participated by satellite, worldwide. Many couples were already married
and came to receive the blessing of True Parents. Others came as engaged
couples and asked for the True Parents' blessing on their marriage. Others
were single and asked for Rev. Moon to match them with an appropriate
spouse, which he did for those who wanted this. A notable difference on
this occasion was that members of many religions were blessed this time,
not just members of the Unification Church. Catholics, Muslims, Jews,
people of many faiths participated.
The next Blessing is intended to be 3.6 million couples and there is a
possibility that it will be held in Washington DC. The one after that is
to be 36 million couples, and so on. God wants to give His Blessing to all
humanity. With the emergence of a new culture based on the tradition of
true love and true families, we will see dramatic social, economic and
politicl changes take place. You saw the demise of communism in what was
just months. The change in the secular culture as it adopts God-centered
values will be equally dramatic. Western culture is just realizing that
it needs to find some kind of "family values", but whose values are we
talking about? The vacuum is there, ready to be filled by the concept of
the True Family based on God's love.
The developments in the last 400 years of human history have been
dramatic. We have seen science come from almost total ignorance to the
highly developed state that it is in today. Democracy came about in this
period. Christianity went through the Reformation, then another great
awakening with many religious figures arising founding such trends as
Methodism, Quakerism, Pietism. All these trends, both secular and
religious, are God's providence to lead us into a position where we can
receive the Messiah and create the Heavenly Kingdom on this earth. It is
no accident that we are able to talk across the globe in seconds via the
Internet. God provided us with these advanced means of communication so
that in these days, His message could quickly spread to the whole world.
The new Great Awakening is coming.
So, to go back to your question, religion does not save us, no religion
does. It merely provides us with the knowledge and discipline with which
we can prepare ourselves to receive the Messiah when he comes, receive
God's blessing and grow to perfect oneness with God and our spouse,
incarnating God's love and His word on this earth in our families. God
dwells where there is True Love, in the True Family.
Does God accept us as we are? Well God loves us because we are His
children, yet he always desires us to be better, just like our earthly
parents do. When we are truly His equals, having perfected ourselves in
love, then God can be totally delighted with us. But he never rejects us,
even in our imperfection, even in sin. Those who are in hell were not cast
there by God, but by their own voluntary choice to live where God cannot
be. Hell is the home of the fornicators and adulterers, the homosexuals
and lesbians and other sexual perverts, the murderers and drug addicts,
and alcoholics, the thieves, liars and cheats, the greedy and the selfish,
and they choose that life and they will live with the consequences of it
until they repent and change their life, of their own free will. We only
stay in hell as long as we choose to be there. As soon as the prodigal son
went home, the father embraced him with tears. The father wanted him back,
but only if he CHOSE to come back. God cajoles and persuades, and in the
last judgement, he may shock people into repentance by natural calamities,
but we must still repent of our own free will.
The solution to racism is for all the races to intermarry and become one
race of God's children. All barriers can be broken down with True Love,
and the age when that will happen is rapidly coming upon us.
Thank you for your question, and God bless you,

Our goal was 360,000, but we exceeded our goal, and the figure

: Moon claims to get the right match thru "spiritual" powers.
He has an awareness of what makes a good match, and he can assess the
character of people by looking at them. You can call this a spiritual
power if you want.
: Assuming that he had one year to prepare it, this would mean that he
: decides 1000 matches a day. Gee, if he can do that, then he is
: really a psychic. But as a skeptic I think that either he does it at
: random, or he uses a computer, or this is done by helpers.
No, he did not match all those couples. Many of them were already
married and he was giving his blessing on their marriage. In other
cases, the couples chose their own spouse. In yet other cases,
such as in Sudan, the government has a ministry of families and
they sent 10,000 couples already matched, to the Blessing. Still,
Rev. Moon matched a lot of couples. He has 8"x10" photographs of
the individuals and he has many set up on easels so that he can
walk up and down looking at the photographs. He used to match people
in person, until the numbers requesting matching became too large.
: So to change Randi's text:
: "If Moon assigns partners thru psychic powers, then he's doing it the
: hard way".
Well, he is the most successful matchmaker in the world that I
have ever heard of. He has the record for having arranged and officiated
the most weddings in history, so he must be doing something right,
whatever his method.

Well, we won't put much stock in Randi, famous magician, skeptic
and atheist. :-)

Maybe Boris Yeltsin will see an apparition of Rev. Moon in the
sky as Emperor Constantine and proclaim himself a believer too. Stranger
things have happened. :-) Maybe George and Barbara Bush will attend
the next Blessing ceremony. Maybe North and South Korea will unite,
maybe Castro will quit in Cuba and call for a constitutional convention,
maybe Marilyn Murray O'Hair will become a believer, maybe there
will be peace on earth. Who knows?

If my worst sin in this world is getting the spelling to Ms. O'Rabbit's

By the way, is she dead? I read a news report recently that she
had died, but the American Atheists did not want people to make
a big deal about praying for her soul. I guess dying and remaining
conscious must do terrible things to one's skeptical belief system! ;-)
